Consumer Resources

Whether you’re buying your first home, selling your current one, or simply exploring your options, our local REALTORS® are here to guide you with professionalism, integrity, and unmatched market expertise.

A REALTOR® is a licensed real estate professional who is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and agrees to follow a strict Code of Ethics.

Why is a REALTOR® different?
While all REALTORS® are real estate agents, not all real estate agents are REALTORS®. REALTORS® are held to a higher standard of professionalism, honesty, and accountability. They are required to complete ethics training and are subject to disciplinary action if they violate the Code of Ethics.

Choosing a REALTOR® means choosing a professional who is committed to protecting your interests and providing ethical, knowledgeable service.

An Affiliate is a trusted business professional who works alongside REALTORS® to support the real estate process. While they are not licensed real estate agents, they provide essential services that help buyers, sellers, and homeowners complete a transaction successfully.

Affiliate members may include lenders, title companies, home inspectors, appraisers, insurance agents, contractors, and other industry-related professionals.

They are valued partners of WCAR who help ensure every step of the home buying and selling process runs smoothly.

The West Central Association of REALTORS® (WCAR) is a professional membership organization representing REALTORS® in Allen, Hardin, and Van Wert Counties. Our role is to support real estate professionals by providing education, resources, advocacy, and tools that promote ethical and successful real estate practices. WCAR itself does not buy or sell real estate — we are a trade association dedicated to strengthening the profession.

Beyond supporting our members, WCAR is committed to serving our communities. Through initiatives like our Homeownership Seminar, local nonprofit fundraisers, and partnerships with city leaders on projects such as placemaking grants, we work to promote responsible homeownership and stronger neighborhoods throughout our region.

WCAR is part of a three-tiered REALTOR® organization, working alongside Ohio REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS® to uphold professional standards and advocate for property owners at the local, state, and national levels.

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is the largest trade organization for real estate professionals in the United States.

NAR provides education, resources, advocacy, and support to REALTORS® to help them serve their clients better. It also sets a Code of Ethics that REALTORS® agree to follow, ensuring honesty, professionalism, and fairness in every transaction.

Being part of NAR connects local REALTORS® to a nationwide network and helps protect the rights of homeowners and property owners across the country.

The Ohio Association of REALTORS® (OAR) is the statewide trade organization for real estate professionals in Ohio.

OAR provides education, advocacy, resources, and support to REALTORS® across the state. They help members stay informed about real estate laws, market trends, and best practices while promoting high ethical standards.

Through OAR, local REALTORS® are connected to a larger network and have a voice in state-level policies that affect homeownership, property rights, and the real estate industry.

A Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is a secure, cooperative database used by real estate professionals to share information about homes for sale.

The MLS allows REALTORS® to:

  • See all active listings in a local area

  • Share listings with other agents

  • Help buyers find the right home quickly

  • Ensure sellers’ properties get maximum exposure

By using the MLS, REALTORS® can work together to make buying and selling homes faster, easier, and more transparent for everyone.
